Love Hate design for Liberty

This is the Love Hate design created for Liberty last month. Showcased at the ‘Britain Can (Still) Make It’ exhibition held on the 4th floor of Liberty store in London to celebrate London’s Design Festival.
The Love Hate range was inspired by the 1955 film The Night of the Hunter in which Robert Mitchum plays Rev Harry Powell who has the letters L-O-V-E and H-A-T-E tattooed across his knuckles.
The right side of the teapot and tea cup are decorated with symbols of love whilst the left side features motifs depicting hate or evil. The struggle between Good and Evil continues over a cup of afternoon tea…

The Beastie Banquet
Sneak preview of Beastie Banquet ware at Luna & Curious
Designers Polly George & welovekaoru of London’s Brick Lane boutique, Luna & Curious in partnership with fellow neighbour and advertising agency Wieden + Kennedy present a sneak preview of their new collaborative product: The Beastie Banquet
The opulent Renaissance banquet had a sense of occasion and ceremony. The setting of the table was a means of creative expression. Painters used it as subjects for their art. The way food was presented kept us in touch with where it came from.
This visceral range of tableware has been designed to re-engage diners with the food they eat, creating a rich social dining experience.
Definitely not suitable for vegetarians
View the preview collection at Luna & Curious, 198 Brick Lane, London E1 6SA. On show from 19th – 27th September 2009.

Britain Can (Still) Make It - Liberty Exhibition

- Liberty Exhibition for LDF
Exclusive new designs created by welovekaoru especially for this exhibition.
Britain Can [Still] Make It Exhibition at Liberty
19th - 27th September 2009As part of the London Design Festival Liberty will host Britian Can [still] Make It, a unique exhibition made up entirely of UK designed and produced furniture, lighting, ceramics and textiles.
The week long exhibition will be curated by David Nicholls, Design Editor of the Telegraph Magazine in associate with Michelle Alger, Liberty’s home and furniture buyer. The event draws inspiration from a 1964 show, ‘Britian Can Make It’ hosted by the V&A after the War to demonstrate advances in the British design industry. Over forty years later Liberty is here to prove that Britain can STILL make it, with a celebration of both traditional and completely new British craftsmanship.
This exciting exhibition will present a mix of established and burgeoning designers from the world of furniture, lighting, ceramics, textiles and metal - all of whom produce their work in the UK.
